A Heart Poised For Beauty Seeing
Thankfulness poises your heart for beauty. And wonder.Since the end of January I have been trying to write down ten things I am thankful for. Every day. I have joined others in a Gratitude Community, who have read the book One Thousand Gifts and have been challenged to write their own list of 1000 thanks. This week I passed 600.
When I began my journey, I never anticipated that being grateful would help me see the buds of springtime while I walked through this season of Winter Trees.
And today,
today I discovered an entire garden of blooms.
A gift to me from God.
I'm sure of it.
And I have pictures to prove it.
It's been an emotionally tough week. Cancer has touched people I've loved. I've cried. I've been emotionally fragile. Today I had a routine mammogram, which turned out normal (I'll blog about that another day), and on my way home, I saw it.
BEAUTY!
I turned the car around. Parked and grabbed my camera.
How could I have lived here 26 years and never known this place existed? Have my eyes been that blinded to beauty seeing?
I zoomed in to capture the colors of the flowers. I got close. Bent over low.
I entered the world of ants and bees. The scent of roses surrounded me.
I've discovered that living thankful is looking at the world up close and personal. Zoomed in. Focused. Thankfulness is a heart poised for beauty seeing. Often when you least expect it.
Speak of all His wonders...Seek His face continually. - Psalm 105:2,4 NAS
Today, I saw His wonders in a rose garden. I am keeping my thankful eyes open to see His face. Continually.
I wonder where I will find Him next?
(If you live in the area, the Memorial Rose Garden is at the SW corner of Baseline and Dobson. I parked across the street. There are ramadas and benches for sitting and reflecting - or having a picnic! The roses are in full bloom now, so go soon!)
