A Very Happy Thursday
I am currently re-reading The Complete Tales and Poems of Winnie the Pooh by A. A. Milne because everything else in my Books I Should Read stack looks unappealing. I've started several books, only to put them aside when they failed to capture my interest, because life is way too short to waste on a boring book.
Which brings me back to Winnie the Pooh, one of my favorite theologians. He rates up there with Dr. Seuss.
This story caught my eye:
One day Piglet and Pooh decide they want to visit their friends, but Piglet thinks they need to have a special reason to do so. They finally decide they will go to wish everybody a Very Happy Thursday.
When they arrive at Rabbit's house to wish him a Very Happy Thursday, Rabbit is puzzled,"Why, what's going to happen on Thursday?" asked Rabbit, and when Pooh had explained, and Rabbit, whose life was made up of Important Things, said, "Oh, I though you'd really come about something," they sat down...and by-and-by Pooh and Piglet went on again.
"Rabbit's clever," said Pooh thoughtfully.
"Yes," said Piglet, "Rabbit's clever."
"And he has Brain."
"Yes," said Piglet, "Rabbit has Brain."
There was a long silence."I suppose," said Pooh, "that that's why he never understands anything."
Today
on your Very Happy Thursday,
I pray
your life is not overfilled
with Important Things,
but rather,
your day is slow enough
for long conversations with friends.
