Every Day and Everyday Gratitude: A Construction Paper Hippo
Gratitude #16
"And thank you for ABC's," said my grandson, age 5, at bedtime prayers.
He came home today from preschool with a paper filled with the letter H and a construction paper hippo which he had to include in a selfie to send to his grandpa, aka Bumpa. (Sorry - you just get the hippo!)
ABC's are very important when you are five. But could it be more than that?
For a child who is a straight-line boy, with his Matchbox cars lined up end-to-end, bumper-to-fender in the playroom.
Who likes schedules and order and life without surprises.
Perhaps there is comfort in the predictability of two straight lines and a cross bar.
The letter H is without presumption.
And for a straight -line kid, it is worthy of gratitude.
