Glass Bottles

For my daughter's birthday in the fall,I purchased glass bottles. We filled them with peacock feathersand decorated the tables to match. It was beautiful.

In the winter, I put the glass bottles on a shelf in the storage room. There they sat, collecting dust. Waiting.WaitingFor desert seedsto fulfill their year-old vows.

Yesterday my friend Eileen gave me spring flowers.I put them in the waiting vaseswhere the morning sunlight caught the colorsand cast purple shadowson the wall.

Emptiness opened wide for beauty filling. - Ann Voskamp

Today

Beauty waits.
I want to open wide.
