To be the Guardian of Balloons
is a Serious Task, not to be taken lightly.
Extreme care must be expended to keep balloons
protected from those who might treat them simply as a ball on a string
for games of loud and laughter and No Longer Safe.
(There are those that treat balloons this way.)
Sometimes a strategic retreat is necessary,
so offenders can be watched
with side glances and tucked smile
while the balloons are tethered close,
out of harm’s way
.And sometimes
The Guardian of Balloons
needs assistance
from the One Who Untangles Strings
and assurancet
hat she is doing a good job
from the One Who Entrusted Her with the Balloons.
Even a guardian
needs to share the burden,
for anyone call tell you that
keeping balloons safe is an exhausting business.
Today on your journey of faith,
wherever you find yourself being a guardian,
I pray,
you find those who can share the burden,
because,
don’t we all need a little help,
now and then,
with the balloons we hold?
